Standing up for the cultural heritage of Artsakh.

Having faced numerous challenges in Mother Armenia, the "We are Our Mountains" Artsakh State Song and Dance Ensemble has found the strength to make the courageous decision to continue its activities, ensuring the preservation of one of the key cultural symbols of Artsakh. 

However, the ensemble is currently facing serious financial problems. The lack of state funding (previously it was funded by the state budget of the Republic of Artsakh), coupled with the September disaster and forced displacement, have left them without the necessary equipment and stage costumes.

The purpose of the project is to provide the ensemble with the essential equipment, national costumes, and minimal financial resources for their salary fund. The financial support is planned for one year which is a crucial period for the ensemble to reorganize, gain recognition and be able to continue their activities independently in the new environment.

By supporting the ensemble, we will not only ensure the continuity of Artsakh’s culture, but also contribute to the decision of Artsakhians to stay in Mother Armenia. The project is intended to create conditions, particularly jobs, to prevent further migration of the people of Artsakh due to social problems.

PROBLEM

The preservation of the culture of Artsakh is the commitment of all Armenians

For the first time in Artsakh's millennia-old history, Artsakh was left without Armenians. The people of Artsakh who survived the genocide are trying to rebuild their lives in Mother Armenia.

Despite many social problems, they have managed to find the strength and resilience to self-organize, and have given priority to the preservation of the culture.

The mission chosen by the "We Are Our Mountains" Artsakh State Song and Dance Ensemble is to contribute to the preservation and continuity of Artsakh culture by resuming its activities.

However, only one of the two prerequisites necessary for the resumption of the ensemble's activities is present: the professionalism and dedication of the members to their work. The second one - the issue of fundraising remains unresolved.

SOLUTION

Not giving in at the cultural struggle

During the almost one-year siege of Artsakh, the people of Artsakh, being alone and abandoned by everyone, continued their struggle, sticking to their historical homeland. That struggle was also for the preservation of culture, for the sake of our Armenian identity.

Today, it is the duty of conscience and faith of all of us to support the Artsakh citizens who have taken refuge in Mother Armenia and are ready to live and create here.

With this initiative, the preservation of Artsakh's cultural heritage becomes possible with the efforts of all Armenians.

TEAM

The initiative belongs to the members of the ensemble, who have reorganized the ensemble as "We are our mountains" cultural NGO.

The ensemble was created in 2000 by the decision of the government of the Republic of Artsakh. Since its establishment, with its creative concert program, which included ethnographic, patriotic and folk songs and dances not only from Artsakh, but also from all Armenian provinces, it has performed in all regions and marzes of Artsakh and Armenia, in defense regiments.The ensemble performed in many festive events organized by the Artsakh government and the Ministry of Culture, many pan-Armenian festivals, receiving many honors and commendations.

Nare Simonyan and Arega Hovsepyan from Artsakh, took over support in matters of fundraising, making arrangements with donors and organizing the concert.
